KIEL IMMUNOLOGY SCHOOL

The KIEL IMMUNOLOGY SCHOOL (KIS) offers doctoral students working on an immunology-related project at the University of Kiel a structured training program to acquire a broad knowledge of immunology and biomedical research in general, and to develop additional soft skills. The Graduate School considers applications from scientists with a Master’s degree in natural sciences with a focus on life sciences. To obtain a certificate from the KIS, approximately 3 years of participation should be planned.

The curriculum consists of seminars and courses offered by the Institute of Immunology and the Graduate Center of Kiel University. Doctoral candidates working in the framework of a collaborative research center or research group are required to take part in the activities of the respective consortium. Additional courses are also available from other scientific institutes or societies. Members of the KIS are especially encouraged to actively participate in international meetings and to attend seminars with international speakers. KIS cannot provide any financial support. However, most of the courses proposed for the curriculum are offered free of charge.

For admission to KIS, candidates apply with a letter of intent, a CV, certificates, and possible letters of recommendation. Based on the quality of these documents (grades, motivation, research experience, and publications), the Steering Committee decides about admission to the KIS.
